I know I've harped on overly detailing everything in other (non-related) books, but there's no problem with that here. Hardly anything about the clothing and only slightly more about the (usually dreary) settings. Did I imagine the lush descriptions of the first book? Because this one did NOT have any of that. Something else I felt was missing? The detail. ![]() I mentioned in an update that I wished the language used had been a bit more flowery/prosaic and that remained true for most of that last half - which, honestly, felt rushed. The dialogue between Jack & Eli (usually during sexy times) felt abrupt & a little off.like, it was only partially trying to stay "in character" let alone appropriate for the time period. This one? I don't know what happened around the 50% or so mark but it started feeling like a different book than the first half I'd just read. ![]()
